Damage in Bejaia, at least seven injuries
This earthquake caused widespread minor to moderate damage in the cities Bejaia and Jijel. According to preliminary reports, at least three buildings suffered partial collapses while several others were damaged. Seven people were injured due to panic-related accidents. However, no casualties were reported yet. The earthquakes was located offshore Northern Algeria with about 20 km distance between epicenter and Bejaia, which reduced the impact of this event. A moderate foreshock and some aftershocks were detected. Weak shaking also affected parts of Tunisia, Sardinia and Majorca.
It seems the damage caused by tonight’s earthquake in #Algeria is quite serious. Below pictures of homes with fractured/falling walls. https://t.co/sYZSbraU2A

Significant damage is registered in Bejaia, eastern #Algeria following the relatively strong earthquake that hit the region. Hopefully, there will be no human casualties (none were registered so far). PC: @AitMouhoubZouhe pic.twitter.com/PT0Z4k6zZ3
